OSAT Blog Hop – Love is in the Air

One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop

Welcome to February’s Love is in the Air One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop! Don’t forget to click “Next” at the bottom of this post to continue to AJ’s blog.

I’ve created two projects for you today.  The first is a card.

I’ve been on kind of a kick this week to create “love” , Valentine’s, anniversary cards that are a little different. I continued that today using Flurry of Wishes.  I know what you’re thinking, “snowflakes for love?”  Check it out.

This spinner card starts with a Blushing Bride base.  I stamped the base with the second largest snowflake from Flurry of Wishes in Versamark.  Then using Heat and Stick, I attached Dazzling Diamonds glitter so that you get a glittery damask effect.

After stamping, punching and embossing the pair of snowflakes, I attached them to the spinner.  Then, I added some Silver Metallic thread and Basic Rhinestones to add a little more interest as the snowflakes spin down the card.

To the right of the snowflakes, I added a piece of Birthday Bouquet designer paper.  Using Clear Wink of Stella, I brushed some shimmer onto each of the design elements in the paper.  Then, I added a narrow Watermelon Wonder banner topped by an even narrower Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper banner.

For the sentiment, I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and, using my aqua painter, brushed it with Blushing Bride ink that I grabbed from the top of the ink pad holder to give it hint of color streaked in the background.  The sentiment was stamped in Watermelon Wonder using the Alphabet Rotary stamp.  As I attached each piece of the sentiment, I trailed a piece of Silver Metallic Thread around and down the card.

Finally, I tried something new.  Taking white and clear sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment, I brushed them with the Two Way Glue Pen and then sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamonds.  It gave them an icy, glittery finish.

Next, I’ve created a small mixed media piece.

It’s a lovely bit of decor that can sit out all year or be stored easily and brought out on special days.

I started with a small canvas square and layered it with a variety of pieces from the Typeset Specialty designer paper.

After the paper was down, I came back and painted the edges of the canvas.  I like to bring the paint up and around onto the edges of the front.  It kind of softens the edge of the paper.

Next, I cut L-O-V-E from Basic Black using the Little Letters framelits.  You may ask “why”?  The letters gave me perfect forms to which I could attach the Gold Sequin Trim rather than trying to freehand the size and typeface.

Next, I ran a random line of glue around the edge of the top using the Two Way Glue Pen.  Then, the edges were sprinkled with Gold Glitter.

I added three flowers in Very Vanilla that were created using the Spiral Flower die.  The Two Way Glue Pen was run around the top of petals before sprinkling them with gold glitter.

(Here’s a video for getting this old fashioned rose shape.)
