Perennial Birthday in Black White and Red

Perennial Birthday Black White and Red from theartfulinker.com

Hi!  Welcome to my blog.  Today, I’ve been doing the “dotting i’s and crossing t’s” stuff.  Don’t get me wrong — I love that part too.  I was just saying to an Australian friend this morning, I love my job!  It could be “just” creating — I love that!  But for me, an added bonus is all of the additional things that I get to do and learn because of the way I choose to run my business.  What does that mean?  It means I’m a girl who needs to use lots of different parts of her brain.  I’m lucky to have most of my needs met right here!!  For my “you’ve been a good girl, now you get to create time”, I played with Perennial Birthday in Black White and Red.

I have wanted to play with this set as soon as I saw it in the Occasions Catalog.

But, I kept getting distracted by other things I needed to do first.

To keep that from happening today, I put the stamp set on the top of the stack.

Though I usually talk to you about my creations from the bottom up,

the reality is that I usually create from the top down.

Here, I started with a Stitched Shapes Whisper White circle.

After inking the stamp with flowers, leaves and berries with Versamark,

I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the outlines.

Once I stamped, I heat embossed in Clear.

The other flower is a single, so I inked in Versamark and then Cherry Cobbler

before heat embossing.

Tip: Be sure to clean your stamp between inking so that

you don’t get Cherry Cobbler on your Versamark pad.

Next, I used light and dark Stampin’ Blends to color in the flowers and the leaves.

Moving down, I added a Basic Black Scallop Circle.

Then, I tucked in Garden Green leaf punches.

Next, I added a swirl of Mini Sequin Trim.

Under that, I added a Real Red layer with a stripe of Pick a Pattern washi.

And going back to the beginning, I used a Basic Black base

layered with a piece of Petal Passion designer paper.

To finish, I colored some White Perfect Accents and used them to add splashes of color.
