Make a Wish

Are you an experienced crafter?  Have you looked at the Paper Pumpkin Kits and said something like this, “I don’t need/want a kit, I don’t want to be tied to creating the easy things that come in the kit.”  Well my answer, “Why should you be less creative with the kit than you are with any of your other supplies.”  I LOVE that the kit comes designed to make something — that’s perfect for many people.  I also LOVE that I can make the kit into anything I can imagine.

Well I didn’t even get through taping yesterday’s video, as I got my first look at the kit, before alternate ideas started popping into my head. Here’s my first out of the box creation (no pun intended).

Between the stars and the word “Wish”, a wand was just a given for me.  I used a skewer as my wand base.  If you wanted it to be even sturdier, you could use a small dowel.  White acrylic paint was used to tint the skewer.

I took a piece of the White Baker’s Twine that is included in the Paper Pumpkin Kit and randomly dragged it through the Blackberry Bliss ink spot.  It gave the baker’s twine a nice striped effect.  The tinted baker’s twine was wrapped around the skewer and secured at the top and bottom with hot glue.

Next, I attached a piece of white, satin ribbon.  Then, I added a half of a striped die cut sticker to a strip of Whisper White cardstock.  Using the die cut “WISH”, I created another banner to hang from the wand.  All of these pieces were attached with hot glue.

The Star framelits were used to cut two stars from Silver Glimmer paper.  These were attached to either side of the top with buttons of hot glue and then layered with the Soft Sky die cut stickers from the Paper Pumpkin Kit.

The small Silver Foil star is from a sheet of die cut stars in the Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Finally, I added one of the open Silver Foil stars to a piece of White Baker’s Twine and attached it to dangle — like a charm.  Then, I cut the tails of each of the banner pieces to give them a more finished look.

Easy and cute!

Now that’s a wish come true!
