Festive Fireplace for TGIFC33

How are your holiday preparations going?  Have you finished your decorating?….shopping?….baking?….craft making?  I’m still deciding on a few of these things.  I know!… I know!!  It’s time to quit messing around and get my head in the game.  Instead, I’m enjoying our usual busy-ness and allowing myself to be distracted by volunteer opportunities and the chance to play with friends.

This morning before I had to run out for most of the day, I did a little creating.  And because time and creative juices were in short supply, I turned to a sketch challenge.

Today’s card combines Festive Fireplace and TGIFC33

There were lots of nice layers to create for this sketch.

For my card, I pulled supplies from both the Holiday Catalog and the Annual Catalog.

In fact, I think you’ll be surprised by the pack of designer paper from which I chose.

I started by stamping the twig wreaths, from Festive Fireplace, in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  After coloring the berries with a Real Red Stampin’ Write marker (this shade shows up better against the Early Espresso), I punched the wreaths with the 1 1/2″ circle punch.

The next layer down is a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock that has been run through the Softly Falling embossing folder.

This layer worked as the base for a couple of bits of embellishment.  First, it was tied with loops of Linen Thread and ver this is the “Celebrate” wooden element.  There’s also a “Thank You” in this set of wooden elements.  So, this card could easily work as a one of the thank you notes that will be need to be written.

The next layer down is a scalloped piece of Kraft cardstock. The scalloped edge was cut using on of the pieces in the Cutie Pie Thinlits.

Now, we come to the designer paper I mentioned earlier. Did you guess which pack this one comes from?  If you guessed Farmer’s Market, then you are correct!  There are several designs in this pack that are perfect for the holidays.

And finally, the whole creation sits on a Cherry Cobbler cardstock base.
