Celebrate Today Balloon Shaker Card

Wow! did it rain last night!  The proverbial cats and dogs.  But for a brief time this morning, the skies cleared to reveal a beautiful rainbow just after sunrise.  Lovely way to start what became a dreary, chilly day.

I woke up with a sort of idea for creating a shaker card with Celebrate Today.  It’s been one of those days that I’ve been back and forth to the card several times while it figured itself out in my head.  In the end, I think it came together.

Here’s my balloon shaker card.

This card starts with a Thick Whisper White base.

The It’s My Party Designer Paper layer is adhered to a piece of Whisper White to give it a little more stability.

And oh those colors! This paper was great to work with!

Using the Balloon Framelits, I cut two overlapping balloons from the top layer of designer paper.  I then cut two more overlapping balloons from another piece of It’s My Party designer paper and attached them to the card base.

Next, I cut just an outside edge of a balloon to add to the top layer to increase the illusion of overlapping balloons.

The shaker bits in the balloons are 1/4″ punches of Mint Macaron and candles from the Party Punch Pack in Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo. Oh, and let’s not forget a few Silver sequins!  Got to have some sparkle!

The balloons were finished with Silver Sequin Trim ribbons.

After photographing the card, I decided it wasn’t quite finished.  Sometimes the camera sees things better than I do.

I added the “happy” sentiment, from Celebrate Today, using Heat and Stick and Silver Glitter. The  Whisper White for the sentiment was cut with the Washi Label punch.
