Birthday Blooms for SIP32 and PPA285

Today I’ve been preparing for my Scrapbook Club that will meet on Saturday evening.  It will be our first meeting of the year and I’m excited to kick off this club!  In between prepping, I took some time out to create a card to share today. (And I have to admit — letting myself be distracted by the current book I’m reading.) After checking out some challenges to help me along with my creativity, I happened across two that I thought would work together.

I combined Birthday Blooms with SIP32 and PPA285 — Tic Tac Toe and color challenges.

Birthday Blooms card for SIP32 and PPA285 from

This card starts with a Tip Top Taupe base and is followed by a layer of Pink Pirouette.

The colors on the card are in response to the challenges.

The next layer is

a piece of Whisper White that I’ve stamped with Watercolor Wash.  The stamp was inked in Pink Pirouette and then stamped off.  Done this way, the stamp just gives a subtle hint of color and texture on this layer.

After adding a strip of Tip Top Taupe Lace Ribbon, I layered it with a piece of Whisper White stamped with a Tip Top Taupe sentiment from Bloomin’ Love.

Moving up the card, we come to the focal point.

It starts with a Pink Pirouette oval embossed with the Gently Falling folder.

The oval is backed with a loop bow made from Gold Metallic Thread.

Then….there’s the Birthday Blooms flower on top!

The flower was first stamped in Tip Top Taupe.

Using Blender Pens and Watermelon Wonder, Pink Pirouette and Tip Top Taupe ink pads, I colored in the petals and leaves.  And of course you can tell, I fussy cut out the entire image.

I think the surprise for me was how good the flower looks with Tip Top Taupe leaves.  I was sure they really needed to be some shade of green! But, NOPE!

Thanks for stopping by!

Such a lovely card, Sara! Love your layering of texture and images. I did not notice the Watercolor Wash until I read your details and now I see how much it does add. Even your fussy cutting is a work of art. Thanks for including the PPA color challenge in your stamping fun this week. Hope you play often!
