Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a little obsessed with Best Thoughts. I love flowers anyway and this one just speaks to me….often. So when I saw that the challenge on Try Stampin’ On Tuesday included flowers as a theme, guess what I went for. If you said “Best Thoughts”, you’re correct.
Let’s take a look at my design team creation for TSOT229.
This card starts with a Crumb Cake base and then I’ve added two layers of designer paper. Both papers are from the Neutrals Collection stack.
For my focal image, I reverse masked or stenciled.
Here’s how I did that.
I stamped the Best Thoughts flower on a scrap piece of paper. Then after carefully cutting a starting line up to the flower, I cut around the outside of the image. Next, I taped over the starting line cut so that it would not pull apart. Finally, I placed the mask/stencil over the piece of Crumb Cake I was using for my focal image and daubed in Whisper White Craft Ink to fill the void.
After removing the mask/stencil, I stamped the flower over the white background, also in Whisper White Craft Ink. Don’t forget to heat set the ink!
Final details were: the designer paper banners, also from the Neutrals Collection stack; “celebrate”; and a trio of Basic Pearls.
This was a fun card to create. It might just be going to a wedding with me next month.
